Alice in Wonderland – behind the pictures

Bachelor Thesis 2017

Alice in Wonderland is a classic of world literature in both literary and graphic way.
The main question focuses on the hidden artistic aspects, which surface through
text and illustration and the historical background of children's book illustration.
The core of the analysis are, among others, the classic illustrations by John Tenniel
as well as modern approaches of book illustration.

In the practical part an Alice in Wonderland-book is set and illustrated.
By experimenting with typography and illustration it is attempted to give
depth to the absurdities of the story and emphasize them.
